Robinhood, the popular financial services company that allows people to digitally invest in stocks and exchange traded funds through its online platform, said Tuesday that it plans to hire at least 100 people in Tempe for its customer experience team.

“We’ve more than doubled our support team since January and we’ll continue to grow our teams to provide timely, helpful responses to our customers. We look forward to expanding in Southlake and Tempe where a wealth of highly skilled and trained registered financial representatives are located.” New jobs will include financial representatives and support staff.

Employees across all Robinhood’s offices are working remotely because of the Covid-19 pandemic, but Robinhood is working toward adding an office presence in Tempe.

“Tempe appreciates the jobs and opportunities that Robinhood is bringing to our community during this time when our nation is facing record unemployment,” Tempe Mayor Corey Woods said in a statement.

“Robinhood will be a welcome addition to Tempe’s fintech business community and we look forward to their continued growth. Tempe is dedicated to helping our businesses and our residents succeed.” Robinhood allows users to trade stocks, options, ETFs and cryptocurrency without paying commissions and fees, and investors can begin investing on the platform with $1. The platform also allows cash management for uninvested money.
